The Udayan Care Organization arranged an induction ceremony for the second batch of its Udayan Shalini Fellowship program. It was held at Ambedkar Bhawan under the aegis of Pilani Atmanirbhar Resource Centre (PARC).  Dr. Sudhir Kumar Barai, Director of BITS Pilani was the chief guest for the ceremony. 

The Udayan Shalini Fellowship programme has 5 key objectives.
1. Provide financial support to deserving and needy girl students from government and government aided schools enabling them to continue their education
2. Provide individual attention, counselling and grooming through personalised mentoring for their mental, moral and over-all development
3. Exposure to life skill training & personality development workshops to learn new skills, build capacities & expand knowledge on social issues
4. Increase ‘employability’ quotient with training in job-oriented skills, career options and understand requirements of the employment world
5. Develop social sensitivity and responsibility to be more humanitarian and give back to Society once they become financially independent

The Program was started in Pilani last year awarding Fellowships for a period of five years to a set of meritorious girl students in government schools. The girls are selected after a thorough process that includes buy-in from the parents. This scholarship ranges from Rupees ten to thirty thousand annually.  This year, thirty girl students from Pilani schools were given scholarships. They took an oath in the presence of Dr. Barai. 

Dignitaries including Dr. Kiran Modi (Founder Trustee Udayan Care), Dr. V K Dube (Director PARC), Dr. Chandrashekhar (Senior Professor BITS), Dr. Naveen Singh, Dr. Rao, Dr. Vaidya, Dr. Yashvardhan, Mr. Avtar Singh and Mr. Rohitash Rathore were present at the ceremony. They spoke words of encouragement to the awardees.
