Set up in 1978, Helpage works for the cause and care of disadvantaged older persons to improve the quality of their lives.   It envisions a society where the elderly have a right to an active, healthy and dignified life.  Helpage was honoured with the UN Population Award 2020 for its exemplary work in ageing, relief efforts work during the Covid 19 pandemic and recognition of the organisation’s outstanding contribution to population issues and efforts in the realisation of older persons rights in India.

Its programs are focussed on direct interventions in the areas of Health-care (mobile healthcare units, cataract surgeries), Agecare (helplines, senior citizens care homes and daycare centres, physiotherapy), Livelihoods (elder-self-help groups; linkages with government schemes), Disaster Response (e.g. Covid 19 relief response), as well as, Advocacy and Awareness on rights and policies relating to elders.

In partnership with Helpage, PARC has organised and conducted tours to various historical places within the Country for senior citizens in the community.  The excursions are a much-needed relief from the mundane day-to-day life
