CSIR CEERI National Laboratory was established in 1953 at Pilani, under the aegis of Shri GD Birla and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.  Dr Homi Jehangir Bhabha was the Chairman of the Electronics Committee.  Its aim was to give impetus to research and development of electronics in the Country and to make it self-reliant by providing support to the industries in the country.

CSIR-CEERI has played an important role in developing and promoting research & development in the field of cyber physical systems, microwave devices and smart sensors.  The Institute is making significant contribution not only through high quality research programs but also through its academic activities.  The Institute is conducting MTech and PHD research courses in the field of Advanced Semiconductor Electronics, Advanced Electronic Systems and High-Power Microwave Systems Engineering under the Academy of Science and Innovative Research (AcSIR).

Through its tireless research CSIR-CEERI has not only started research on new technologies in the field of electronics, but has also made invaluable contribution towards reducing the dependence of industries and the public on foreign technology imports.

PARC has partnered with CEERI scientists & BITS Pilani students to help raise the digital literacy among the community in Pilani.  The digital lab holds 20+ computers with instructors and the course is certified by RSCIT.  A completion certificate enables trainees to apply for government jobs.  Besides school students and youth, housewives have been actively training themselves.
